New Release + New Project: The Brothers Druthers

“Proud” is not an expression that I use much, but this release and our history together as friends and songwriters hits on a new level. After 25+ years of playing and writing together, N8 Jones and I made the conscious effort to level-up with the formation of The Brothers Druthers. Our debut pair of songs are out now everywhere and we hope you’ll engage with us on those mainstream platforms, though we’d certainly appreciate your direct support by downloading/streaming/supporting the songs on our BandCamp page (BandCamp pays an 85% share to artists, versus less than .01% on greedy platforms, Spotify and Apple). We’ll need the gas money as we hit the road in my gas-guzzling van for the 10-date ‘River Decides Tour' — less than a week!

Song Tidbits: These two songs are co-writes, inspired from an epic roadtrip when we were 21 years old. The excursion spanned much of our summer, living out of a 1990 Camry with tent, guitars, a loaded car topper that dented the roof panel. We were high school soccer buds, then students at Western KY University and this was our summer break. We had never been west of St. Louis. Our parents were freaking out but gave us their blessings as we left Kentucky. A figure-8 route of the US, pre-cell phones, 13 national parks, sleeping on the dirt every night, learning how to be touring entrepreneurs while attending a dozen Phish shows, meeting a lot of strangers and making fast friends. It was the first time experiencing the western vibe (including Wyoming) for two Kentucky boys, and that forever impacted our lives. About one year ahead of this roadtrip, we acquired acoustic guitars on the same day, so it was formative times as green musicians and aspiring songwriters. The story is still writing itself decades later. We hope you’ll find some joy from the music we’re making!
